Iberostar Foundation.

In this document you will find information about the cookies used on the web pages of the Iberostar Hotels & Resorts group. You can change your cookie settings on your browser to rejects our cookies. However, you may lose some features and functionality if you choose to disable cookies. By navigating our web pages without disabling cookies on your browser, you are giving your consent to cookies being installed.

In this document you will find information about the following:

  1. What are cookies?

  2. What do we use cookies for and why do we handle navigation data?

  3. What kind of information do we obtain?

  4. How can I manage cookies?

  5. What are the cookies used on the web pages of the Iberostar group

  1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s hard disk, mainly for technical purposes.

2. What do we use cookies for and why do we handle navigation data?

  •   To provide the services requested by users: We use the technical cookies required to provide adequate services to users, e.g. to enable the system to store the information entered in the various stages of registration or purchase processes.
  •   To optimise the use of our web pages and improve the quality of our website: Cookies are used on our website to optimise users’ experience on it, as they store navigation settings for new navigation experiences in the future (e.g. registered user status, language, etc.).

We also use cookies to collect anonymous data for statistical purposes, so that we can analyse how our website is used and make improvements or adjustments to suit visitors’ preferences.

Statistical analyses are mainly performed using Google Analytics, a tool provided by the American corporation Google, Inc. For more information about Google Analytics, check Google’s privacy policy at http://www.google.com/intl/en/analytics/privacyoverview.html.

  •   To offer relevant online advertising

Sometimes we use targeted online advertising programmes to promote our website and increase advertising effectiveness. The companies participating in these programmes show ads according to the tastes and interests inferred from the navigation data stored on our website or those of third parties in the programme. In this sense, participating companies may install cookies in users’ browsers to identify them as members of their target audience. Or they may identify users who visited our website previously by installing tracking cookies.

Advertising cookies do not contain enough information to identify specific users. Likewise, the information we obtain can only be associated to specific users if they are identified on our website (e.g. by completing a booking process). In this case, unless otherwise specified in the privacy policy of the website of the group using this type of cookies, the data obtained will be stored in a database owned by Iberostar Hoteles & Apartamentos, S.L. for commercial research purposes or website user segmentation in the design of advertising campaigns according to the interests shown during navigation. Users can at any time exercise their right to access, change or cancel their personal information in accordance with the privacy policy at Iberostar.com.

Advertising cookies are sometimes referred to as third-party cookies, since they track navigation and publish ads on behalf of third parties.

For further information on online behavioural advertising and browser settings to disable it, go to www.youronlinechoices.eu.

To disable the advertising cookies on our web pages, go to ‘How can I manage cookies?’ below.

The remarketing tool used on this website is AdWords, provided by Google, Inc. With AdWords we can publish ads on the Google Display Network based on users’ previous visits to our websites (more info on the Google Network at http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=6104). This is why some of our web pages have a code known as ‘remarketing tag’, making it possible to read and set cookies on your browser to define the type of ads to be shown to each user on the basis of their previous visits to our website: navigation paths, specific web pages visited, actions performed in them, and so on. The remarketing lists thus created are stored in a Google browser database containing all the cookie IDs associated with every list or interest category. The information obtained can only be used to identify a specific browser; based on this information, Google cannot identify specific users (more info about Google’s remarketing tool at http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en-419&answer=173945).

This website also uses Criteo’s retargeting technology. Criteo installs cookies in users’ browsers to store their browsing histories and show them personalised and dynamic advertising banners on third-party web pages, based on personalised tracking. With the information obtained, Criteo is unable to identify specific users (more info about Criteo’s retargeting technology at http://www.criteo.com; for the company’s privacy policy go to http://www.criteo.com/en/privacy-policy). As stated in the privacy policy, Criteo collects anonymous data and stores them for 13 months, destroying them afterwards.

3.What kind of information do we obtain?

As a general rule, the information we obtain with cookies is the following:

a) The domain name of the supplier (PSI) and/or IP address giving access to the Web. A user from supplier xxx will only be identified by the domain xxx.es and/or the IP address. This information is used for statistics on the servers and countries with the highest numbers of visitors to our website.

b) The date and time when the user accessed our website. This information is used to find out the hours with more visitors and make the necessary adjustments to avoid overload.

c) The IP address of the link directing to our website. This information is used to see how effective the banners and links are directing to our server and boost those with better results.

d) The number of daily visitors to each section on our website. With this information we can learn what sections are more popular and improve their contents for more satisfactory results.

Although the information collected is anonymous, in compliance with Report 327/2003 of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, users are hereby informed that the aforementioned data shall be stored in a personal information database belonging to the website owner. Users can at any time exercise their right to access, change or cancel their personal information, or object to it being handled, as stated on the privacy policy at our web pages.

4.How can I manage cookies?

If you do not want to receive cookies or if you want to be informed about cookies being installed, you can set your browser accordingly. Check your browser’s support section for an adequate management of cookie settings.
